Privacy Policy — PixelMarch
Effective date: 2026-07-21 · Last updated: 2026-07-21
This Privacy Policy explains how RorysRepairs LLC, a Connecticut limited liability company, trading as PixelMarch ("we", "us"), handles information in connection with the PixelMarch application and its licensing/update services. We designed PixelMarch to be privacy-respecting: it is a portable, local-first application, and most of your data never leaves your device.
1. Summary
- Your terminals, workspaces, profiles, hotkeys/macros, screenshots, and BigBrain memory notes are stored locally on your device, next to the executable. We do not receive or store them.
- We collect a small amount of personal data only to sell and manage subscriptions (email, billing info processed by our payment provider, and a license identifier).
- We do not sell your personal data.
2. Data Stored Locally on Your Device (we do not collect this)
The Software stores the following next to its executable and never transmits it to us:
- Application settings and workspace/pane layouts (pixelmarch.json).
- Pane profiles, keybindings, global hotkey profiles, and macros.
- BigBrain memory notes (local memory service).
- Screenshots you capture and any clipboard content you copy/paste.
- Your license key / cached entitlement file.
You control this data. Deleting the application's data directory removes it.
3. Data We Collect for Subscriptions
When you purchase or manage a subscription, we (and/or our payment processor) collect: - Email address — to create your license, send receipts, and provide support. - Billing information — card/payment details are collected and processed directly by Paddle, our Merchant of Record and seller of record. Paddle is an independent controller of that payment data under its own privacy policy. We do not receive or store full card numbers. - Subscription and license metadata — plan, status, subscription/customer identifiers, license key, and seat count. - Basic transaction records — amounts, dates, and country/tax data needed for accounting and tax compliance.
4. Data the Licensing / Update Services Receive
When the Software refreshes an entitlement or checks for updates, our servers may receive: - Your license key (to return your current entitlement). - Standard technical request metadata (IP address, timestamp, and the app version requesting the update). IP is processed transiently to serve the request and for security/abuse prevention; we do not use it to build user profiles.
The Software does not transmit your terminal contents, files, keystrokes, screenshots, or BigBrain notes to us.
5. Third-Party AI Tools
PixelMarch can invoke third-party AI command-line tools that you install separately. When you use them, your prompts, code, and other input are sent by those tools to their providers under their privacy policies — not through PixelMarch. We neither receive nor control that data. Review those providers' policies (e.g. Anthropic, OpenAI, Google) for how they handle it.
6. How We Use Personal Data
We use the data in Sections 3–4 to: provide and enforce your subscription and license; process payments and issue receipts; provide customer support; send essential service messages (e.g. billing, security, material changes); comply with tax/legal obligations; and prevent fraud and abuse. [If you send marketing email, say so and describe opt-out.]
7. Legal Bases (GDPR, where applicable)
Where GDPR applies, we process personal data on the bases of: performance of a contract (providing your subscription/license), legal obligation (tax/accounting), and our legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, and supporting our business), balanced against your rights. Where we rely on consent (e.g. optional marketing), you may withdraw it at any time.
8. Sharing
We share personal data only with: - Paddle (Merchant of Record / seller of record) to take payment and handle billing, tax, and refunds. Paddle acts as an independent controller for the payment transaction. - Infrastructure/hosting providers that run our licensing and update services. - Authorities, where required by law. We do not sell personal data or share it for third-party advertising.
9. Data Retention
We keep subscription and billing records for as long as your account is active and thereafter as needed for legal, tax, and accounting purposes (typically 7 years for financial records). License metadata is retained while your license exists. Transient request logs are kept for a short period for security/troubleshooting.
10. International Transfers
Our processors may store or process data in countries other than yours. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (e.g. EU Standard Contractual Clauses) for such transfers.
11. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict processing of your personal data, and to object to certain processing or withdraw consent. California residents have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including to know, delete, and opt out of "sale"/"sharing" (we do not sell or share as defined). To exercise any right, contact privacy@pixelmarch.io. We will respond as required by law. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority.
12. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the limited personal data we hold (e.g. encryption in transit, restricted access, reliance on a PCI-compliant payment processor). No method is perfectly secure, but the local-first design means the bulk of your usage data never reaches us.
13. Children
The Software is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
14. Changes
We may update this Policy. Material changes will be notified in-app or by email. The "Last updated" date reflects the latest version.
